RIPLEY – Calvin Coolidge Theobald, 81, formerly of Kearny, passed away after a long illness Dec. 7, 2006, surrounded by his wife and children in his Tinton Falls, N.J., home. He was born July 12, 1925, in Orange, N.J. He served in World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He owned a patent for a method of fat recovery in the rendering business, which is still used by many companies today. At the time of his death, he was president of The Theobald Industries, as well as Florida Shortening. He was a huge inspiration to his daughters and sons! He was a big supporter of his sons’ company Mid Atlantic Vegetable Shortening. He held a private pilot license for 50 years and loved to fly to North Carolina for breakfast on any given Sunday with his son, Calvin. He was predeceased by his son, Michael. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Belle Farrar Theobald; three sons, Calvin, Richard and Perry; six daughters, Adeline, Priscilla, Lucinda, Elizabeth, Geraldine (Jake) and Regina; 19 grandchildren; a sister, Betty McGovern; and a brother, George. He will be sorely missed by his wife and children, but he will live on in all our hearts with the wonderful memories he left with us. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Bongarzone Funeral Home, Tinton Falls, N.J. Interment will be at West Ripley Cemetery, Ripley.
