MOUNT CHASE and CENTER OSSIPEE, N.H. – Calvin Eugene Botting, 56, passed from this life to a better one, Dec. 25, 2007, after a long battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was born Feb. 6, 1951, in Patten, the son of Lyman and Julia (Dunphy) Botting Sr. He graduated from Katahdin High School in 1969. Shortly after graduating, Cal entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He returned home and then went to work for his uncle, Herschel Botting in New Hampshire, where he lived until returning to Maine four months ago to live out the rest of his life. Calvin is survived by three children, Lindsay, Ryan and Mackenzie; two brothers and six sisters. He leaves behind four extra special sisters, Donna Sibley and her husband, George, of Lincoln, Gloria DeWitt and her husband, Walter, of Monticello, and Darlah Arbo and her husband, Marty, of Patten, and Fonda Burleigh; one very special nephew, George W. Sibley and his wife, Melanie, who cared for Cal until he entered the hospital; a special aunt, Regina Clark and her husband, Jack, of Augusta; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Calvin was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn. At Cal’s request there will be no funeral services. Interment will be at Mount Chase Cemetery.
