GOULDSBORO and ORRINGTON – Cameron Sargent MacGregor, 92, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Aug. 13, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, at his home. Cameron, the son of John and Rilla MacGregor, was born May 5, 1914, in Gouldsboro. Cam graduated from Winter Harbor High School in 1933. After graduation he went to barber school and barbered until he joined the Army, Jan. 18, 1941. During World War II he served with he 731st Engineers Depot Co. in France, Germany and the Philippines and received an honorable discharge as staff sergeant Dec. 25, 1945. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. Cam was a lobster fisherman after the war until he began a civil service job at the Naval Security Group Activity in Winter Harbor Dec. 16, 1963, retiring Jan. 16, 1981. He was a lifetime member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, the former Union Evangelical Church, in South Gouldsboro. He attended the Orrington Center Church after moving to Orrington. He was a wonderful, kind and loving husband, father, grampy and friend. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; two daughters; and one son, Colleen Wallace of Cumberland whose husband, Gerald passed away this past May; Ellen and her husband, William Reitsma, of Orrington and Cameron MacGregor Jr. of Framingham, Mass. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Beth and her husband, Jeremy Boutot, Crystal, Mark and Pam Reitsman, Welsey and Jan Wallace, Stephen Wallace and Patrea Allen and Michael and Hersey Wallace; also five great-grandchildren, Bryon, Rebecca and Caleb Boutot, Chelsea Watson and Derek Wallace; many nephews and nieces; and special cousin, Sadie Woodworth of Gouldsboro. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. He has one living sister, Amy Hallowell of Columbia, Md. Visiting hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A private committal service will be held at a later date at the Morton Bunker Cemetery, South Gouldsboro.
