BANGOR – Carl H. Simpson, 74, died unexpectedly Nov. 27, 2004, after a long illness at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 1, 1930, in Bangor, the son of Carl and Gertrude (Pineo) Simpson. He was a 1948 graduate of Bangor High School. Carl and his wife owned and operated Simpson’s Superette at Six Mile Falls in Bangor for 38 years. Carl enjoyed horseback riding with his family and taking care of his dairy farm in Glenburn. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends at his camp in Monson. Carl was a member of Rising Virtue Lodge No. 10 AF & AM of Bangor. He was the captain of the Anah Shrine Horse Patrol of Bangor for many years and rode his horse in many parades throughout the state. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janie (Nowell) Simpson of Bangor; one son, Tom Simpson and his wife, Diane, of Orrington; four daughters, Sue and her husband, Jim Bonzey, of Bangor, Jill and her husband, Bo Leslie of Palm Bay, Fla., Mary Lee Chase of Glenburn, and Karen Simpson of San Diego, Calif. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, Nick and Janel Bonzey of Bangor, Adam, Sam and Leo Chase of Glenburn, Olivia and Aja Simpson of San Diego, Calif. He is survived by one brother, Bob; two sisters, Jackie and Cathy and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
