SARASOTA, Fla. – Carl L. Nickerson, 87, passed away unexpectedly June 22, 2004, at Heron East Healthcare Facility. He was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Monticello, the son of Kenneth and Minnie (Bragdon) Nickerson. Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. The fish and wildlife can now rest in comfort. He retired as a conductor for B & A Railroad. He resided in Winterport for many years, moving to Florida in 1978. He was predeceased by his wife, Reta; daughter, Geneva; and son, Kenneth. He is survived by his wonderful, caring wife, Olga Nickerson of Sarasota, Fla.; daughters, Carline Bennett of Binghamton, N.Y., Sharon Margaronis of Bangor; three sons, Carl A. Nickerson of Bangor, Larry Nickerson of Wakefield, N.H., James Nickerson of Bangor; foster children, Wayne and his wife, Vicki Thayer, Cheryl Thayer, and Phyllis Brown; sisters, Sereta Hammond, Katherine Dube, Mary Nickerson, all of Houlton; brothers, Fenton Nickerson of Sidney, Chester Nickerson of Monticello, and Gene Nickerson of Houlton; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 11 a.m.-12 noon Friday, June 25, at Palms Funeral Home, Sarasota, Fla., where funeral services will be held following visitation.
