BREWER – Carl Leonard DeBeck, 73, husband of the late Charlotte (Brooks) DeBeck, died May 31, 2005, at his home in Brewer. He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Holden, the son of Stanley Milton and Viola (Corey) DeBeck. Carl attended grammar school in Holden and was a 1949 graduate of Brewer High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. In 1961 Carl graduated from the University of Connecticut in the college of pharmacy. He thoroughly enjoyed his 32 years as a pharmacist at Miller Drug, Bangor, retiring in 1992. Surviving in addition to his father, Stanley DeBeck of Brewer; are a brother, Robert M. DeBeck Sr. and his wife, Rita, of Bucksport; nieces and nephews, Robert DeBeck Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Brewer, Pam Lord and her husband, David, of Gray, Cindy Madore of Brewer, Jim DeBeck of Bucksport, Sharon DeBeck of Hampden and Susan DeBeck of Brewer; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kristy Martin and her husband, Leo, and their daughter, Elyce, of Mariaville, David Lord Jr. of Brewer, Greg Lord of Bangor and Darren Cook of Brewer. Carl was predeceased by his mother, Viola (Corey) DeBeck and a younger brother, Emery William DeBeck. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Alan Garber and Hospice of Eastern Maine for their wonderful care and support. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Constance S. Chase Wells, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. Private interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Town. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshment at the Brookings-Smith family rooms, Brewer, immediately following the memorial service Friday.
