WINTERPORT – Carleton Nowell Selfridge, 55, husband of Kathy (Pluard) Selfridge passed away Jan. 18, 2007, at a Bangor hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born March 18, 1951, in Providence, R. I., the son of Walter and Audrey (Nowell) Selfridge. Carl had worked at Eastern Fine Paper for 26 years as a paper embosser operator before the mill’s closing. Carl is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy of Winterport; his father, Walter and stepmother, Dorothy of Paramus, N.J.; two sons, Timothy and his companion, Nicole DeGrasse, of Winterport and Geoffrey and his wife, Mir, of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, John and his wife, Tracy, of Moore, Okla., and Teddy “Cam” and wife, Elaine, of Burke, Va.; four sisters; Jennifer Selfridge of Haverhill, Mass., Valarie McKenzie and husband, Philip, of Tewksbury, Mass., Melissa Bailey and husband, Glen, of Houston, and Mary Barbara Tarpy of Haverhill, Mass.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be fondly remembered by a special niece, Abby Jenne; and two little rays of sunshine, Sierra and Kallista. He was predeceased by his mother, Audrey (Nowell) Selfridge Tarpy; and a brother-in-law, Stanley “Chip” Pluard Jr. A gathering will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the Fountain House Restaurant, Main Street, Winterport, for a time of food, memories and music.
