NEWBURGH – On Jan. 6, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, Carol, 38, left her beloved home and family to fly with the angels. She was born Jan. 31, 1966, at Mars Hill, to Harold and Ruth (Shaw) MacIlroy. After spending her early years in Bridgewater, she moved to East Machias where she graduated from Washington Academy. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Mark “Teet” Fergerson and from their love came a beautiful daughter, Jessica Laine, who was the apple of her mother’s eye. Carol was caring, loving, witty and a friend to so many. She enjoyed going to camp, gliding along the lake in the canoe with a fishing pole in her hand, gardening, exploring the outdoors, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with family and friends sharing good food and lots of laughter. Carol was a great cook, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. She was a hard worker, being a waitress for many years before going to work at MBNA in Belfast. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 20 years; her daughter; her mother, Ruth; and her father, Harold and his wife, Lillian. Also missing her will be brothers; Gregg and Joyce, Paul and Wanda, and John and Donna; sister, Ann and Nasser, and half sister, Maureen and Dan; her extended family, Pat and Stan, Carlton, Mike and Melanie, Lori and Brian, Kari and Trent, Ward and Ann; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and her many special friends at MBNA. We invite you to visit with family and friends 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A graveside celebration of Carol’s life will be held in the spring. Memorial gifts may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, care of Komen Maine Affiliate, P.O. Box 3283, Brewer, ME 04412-3283 or to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be expressed through www.hampdengilpatrick.com. Arrangements entrusted to the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home.
