STETSON – Maximilian N. Lucas, 68, passed away March 3, 2005, at Ross Manor after a long battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 2, 1936, at Akron, Ohio, a son of John Lipovsky and Mary (Kalaj) Lucas. Max was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air National Guard. He was a welder by trade and worked for Babcock & Wilcox in Ohio. After moving to Maine in 1973, he was employed at Cianbro Corp. in Pittsfield. In his later years, he enjoyed providing driving services for those in need, along with several hobbies. He is survived by two sons, Anthony and wife, Patricia Lucas, of Stetson and Joseph Lucas of Auburn; a daughter, Janeane and husband, Kendall Chase, of Bradford; a brother, Victor Lucas of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren, Ryan Lucas of Portland, Chad Lucas of Stetson, Bryan and Michael Lucas of Auburn and Jessica and husband, Cory Verrill of Stetson; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Verrill of Stetson. A spring graveside service will be held at the Clark’s Hill Cemetery, Stetson. Donations may be made in Max’s name to his favorite charitable organization, the Salvation Army, 65 South Park St., Bangor, ME 04401.
