JONESPORT – Carolyn A. Keegan, 83, passed away Oct. 14, 2006, at Sunrise Health Care Facility, Jonesport. She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Jonesport, the daughter of the late Franklin J. and Nettie (Reed) Alley. She was a lifelong resident of Jonesport. Carolyn owned and operated her own nursing home at her residence for several years. She later founded and operated Jonesport Realty with her beloved husband, Bill, for more than 25 years. Carolyn was one of the original Rosie the Riveter’s of World War II, in Providence, R.I. Carolyn was very active and instrumental in the Democratic party for decades. She was an avid sports fan and Beano player. Carolyn will be remembered as a true Downeaster. She was small in stature but big in heart. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie K. Milliken and companion, James Westman, of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Melanie Roberts of Trinity, Fla., Mary Ellen Schlitt and husband, Michael, of Vero Beach, Fla., Carol Beath and Ron of Vero Beach, Fla., Michelle Grimes and husband, Keith, of Greenville, N.H., and Billy Milliken and wife, Dawn, of Jonesport; 13 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Narda Davis and husband, Reginald, “Tug” Sr., of Jonesport; three nephews and one niece; and lifelong special friend, Frances Carver of Jonesport. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William T. Keegan; and a brother, Roland Alley. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church, Jonesport. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the church, with Pastor George Woodward officiating. Burial will be immediately after at Greenwood Cemetery, Jones-port. After the service, friends and family are invited to the Milliken residence, 113 Main St., Jonesport, for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
