PITTSFIELD – Carolyn A. Starbird, 65, a resident of Snakeroot Road, died peacefully July 13, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at a Waterville hospital. She was born June 22, 1941, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Alfred and Ina (Ames) Brooks, and attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. She was employed by Ethan Allen Furniture in Burnham for many years and also worked as a certified nurses assistant at Sebasticook Health Care Facility. Mrs. Starbird was also employed by Pride Manufacturing in Burnham where she retired. Carolyn loved the times spent with family and friends. She enjoyed camping at Yonderhill Campground in Madison with her good friends Linda and Larry. She enjoyed many trips to the coast with family, especially to Boothbay Harbor. The Train Museum was a great delight. Carolyn was concerned for her family’s needs over her own up until the moment of her passing. She is survived by two sons, Kevin Starbird and his wife, Brenda, of Goldbeach, Ore., Douglas Starbird and his wife, Carol, of Pittsfield; three daughters, Tammy Cassidy and her husband, Michael, of St. Albans, Rhonda Blomgren and her husband, Chris, of Pittsfield, Kelly Maker and her husband, Franklin, of Palmyra; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Evan, Jerrit, Lynn , Doug Jr., Bryce, Jessica, Kyle, Ross, Matthew, Paige and Chad; three great-grandchildren, Kitana, Trinity and Aiden; brothers, Robert Brooks and his wife, Lois, Leland Brooks and his wife, Marilyn; sisters, Gloria White and her husband, Dave, Virginia Morrison and her husband, Donald; one brother-in-law, Jan Starbird and his wife, Maryann, of Bangor; and one sister-in-law, Marie Turner and her husband, Erroll, of Newport. Carolyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Donald Starbird; her parents; two sisters, Muriel Wade and Shirley Garnett; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert and David Starbird. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m Monday, July 17, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18. Internment will be after the service at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield.
