BANGOR – Carolyn “Aunt Cal” (Sproul) Salisbury, 88, died peacefully, after a brief illness, March 22, 2005, with her family by her bedside. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Orono, the daughter of James Sproul and Ermigene (Gilbert) Sproul Knapp. She lived in Orono, as a child and later moved to Bangor. She worked at Eastern Maine General Hospital, Modern Cleaners and Steve’s Dry Cleaners. She was a long time member of the Glad Tidings Church. Carolyn had a great love of children. She took care of many children over the years. She was always known to the children as “Aunt Cal”. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Fred Allen Salisbury; one brother, Stanley of Swans Lake; three sisters, Eileen Coady of Bangor, Grace Davis of Bangor, Elaine Small of Bangor; five sons, Michael Murphy of Old Town, Joseph Murphy and his wife, Linda, of Bangor, Brian Murphy and his wife, Lisa, of North Dakota, Timothy Murphy and his wife, Debra, of Hudson, Chris Davis and his wife, Susan, of Milford; nine grandchildren, Eric Murphy of Ellsworth, Noreen Littlefield and her husband, Andrew, of Bangor, Jo-anna Murphy of Bangor, Brian, Brandy, Austin and Jessica Murphy of North Dakota, Timmy and Tommy Davis of Bangor; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth Sproul, Bernard and Roland Knapp. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Glenn Nichols, associate pastor of the Glad Tidings Church, officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service. Spring interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Otis.
