DOVER-FOXCROFT – Carrie E. Blood, 96, wife of the late Virgil Blood, died May 17, 2008, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Willimantic, the daughter of Hugh S. and Laura (Hatch) Goodell. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1930. A long career of working began for Carrie at Stowell-MacGregor Spool Mill. During World War II, she worked at Fay-Scott Industries, manufacturing parts of the atomic bomb. She was employed by Maine Leathers and retired from Judkins Shop ‘n Save at age 80. She is survived by a son, Theodore “Ted” Marshall and his wife, Jane, of Dover-Foxcroft; a stepson, Harold Blood and friend, Dorothy, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Jane Francis and her husband, Wilson, of Largo, Fla.; four grandsons, Mark and Janky, Bret and Lorna, Scott and Angela, Craig and Tracy; a granddaughter, Shelley; many great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by a special fishing friend, Barbara Miller. Carrie was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie Blood Tetrault. Graveside services in the family lot at Gray Cemetery will be announced at a later date by Lary Funeral Home.
