CHERRYFIELD – Cary E. Willey, 52, went to be with the Lord, July 2, 2005, unexpectedly at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 5, 1952, in Machias, the son of Vera (Merritt) Willey and the late Roger K. Willey. Cary graduated from Narraguagus High School. He grew up attending the First Congregational Church of Cherryfield where he later married his wife of 20 years and watched the christening of his children. He worked as a carpenter for L.E. Nichols Custom Builders in Harrington for 28 years. He coached the Cherryfield T-Ball and A-Ball teams and was an active den leader in the Cherryfield Cubscout Pack. Cary loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Red Sox fan. Cary’s family meant the world to him and he was dedicated to his family as a loving husband, father, son, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathleen (Geel) Willey; beloved daughter, Danielle Willey and her boyfriend, Christopher Peabody; beloved son, Brian Willey; mother, Vera Willey; brother, Carl Willey and wife, Sarah, all of Cherryfield; two nieces, Connie Oliver and Ellen Lawrence, both of Connecticut; one nephew, Roger T. Willey of Florida; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Cary will be greatly missed by family, friends, coworkers, customers, and especially by his mother-in-law, Mary; brothers-in-law, Alan, Kevin, Duane, and Shawn; and by partner and friend for 28 years, Larry Nichols. He was predeceased by his father; and a sister, Constance Strout. At Cary’s request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Morse Cemetery in Cherryfield, officiated by Pastor John Sprague. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Willey Family, care of Cathleen Willey, 291 Ridge Rd., Cherryfield, ME 04622. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
