PORTLAND and MILLINOCKET – Catherine “Janie” Glavin of Portland and formerly of Millinocket, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at a Portland hospital. She was born in Millinocket, the daughter of Francis Patrick and Mary Wilhelmena (Chaplin) Galvin. She was a graduate of St. Martin’s School in Millinocket. Janie was employed by numerous law firms in Maine, but most recently, Hopkinson, Abon-danza, and Backer, who were like a second family to her. She is survived by her children, Shawna Galvin and fianc‚, Jim Rand, of Yarmouth, Peter Mark E. Cummings and wife, Sarah Parker, of Dublin, Ireland, Clarissa Rae McAuley and children, Phylicia and Marco “Pat” McAuley of Mebane, N.C., and John Patrick Galvin, wife, Sherri, and children, Madigan and Mackenzie of Sanford, N.C.; also several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janie was a truly special person who touched many lives. She will be sadly missed by her family and numerous friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Spring burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
