PALMYRA – Brian L. Cowan, 66, died Dec. 23, 2003, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born April 29, 1937, in Pittsfield, the son of the late Willis and Doris (Burrill) Cowan. Brian graduated from M.C.I. in 1956. He was a member of the Air National Guard for several years. Brian was employed by Pike Industries as a truck driver. He worked most of his life as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, listening to country music, watching TV, playing Beano, and going for rides in the country. Brian was also a collector of baseball caps and belt buckles. Brian is survived by his wife of 47 years, Merna Cowan of Palmyra; son, Willis Cowan of Palmyra; daughter, Sheryl Vanadestine of Palmyra; son, Brian Cowan II of Newport; six grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Jacob, Rachel, Brian III and Chad; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Michael; sister, Alice Jenness and husband, Maurice, of Palmyra; sister-in-laws, Virgie Faulkingham of Prospect Harbor and Velma Norton of Columbia Falls; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visiting hours will be held from 1-3 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Donald Shorey Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Village Cemetery in Palmyra in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Cowan’s name to Eastern Maine Charities (Cancer Care of Maine), P.O.
