ASHLAND and VAN BUREN Catherine M. “Kathleen” York, 53, died unexpectedly March 31, 2004, at a Caribou hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born at Portage Lake, April 30, 1950, the daughter of Elden E. and M. Helen “Ella” (Long) York Sr. She was a fun-loving, caring and good-hearted person who touched many lives. Cath loved coloring, scrapbooking, watching TV and especially loved Elvis Presley music. She was a much loved resident of L’Acadie in Van Buren for the past year. She is survived by four brothers, Elden E. York Jr. and his wife, Karen, Charlie and Carl York, all of Ashland; Edwin York and his wife, Susan, of Sweden; one sister, Leona R. York of Limestone; three nieces, Tina Richardson and her husband, Wade, of Bridgton, Autumn Howes and husband, Dana, of Washington; Mary Ann York of Ashland; one nephew, Zachary York of Sweden; three great-nieces, Susan York, Chelsea and Kaila Richardson, all of Bridgton; one great-nephew, Jonathan E. Howes of Washington. She will also be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, and friends, especially Sonia, Lynn “Poodles”, Kristie “Twisty”, Robert and Gaynel Tilley and family, Rev. Bruce and Sally Blakney and family; the staff and residents of L’Acadie; staff and friends at Opportunity Training Center. She was predeceased by her parents. Relatives and friends may call at the Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland, 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 12 noon until time of service on Friday. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ashland Municipal Cemetery later this spring.
