JONESPORT – Cecelia B. Dobbins, 98, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the Marshall’s Health Care Facility, Machias. A lifelong resident of Jonesport, she was born there Dec. 28, 1907, the daughter of the late George O. and Almeda (Cummings) Beal. She attended and graduated from high school in Jonesport in 1927. She was employed by the William Underwood Company in Jonesport for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years. On May 30, 2005, she was awarded the Boston Post Cane for being the oldest living resident in the community of Jonesport. She shared 60 years of marriage with the late Frank J. Dobbins, who died in 1990. Family members include a daughter, Charlotte (Tart) Juanita Beal of Jonesport; a son, Millard (Buzz) James Dobbins and his wife, Donna, of Bedford, Mass.; 11 grandchildren, Muriel Pineo, Gary Beal, Tommy Beal and John Beal, all of Jonesport, Nancy Hooper of Blue Hill, Glenda Davis of Ellsworth, Peter Beal of Beals, Jill Harrington of Exeter, Darlene Bailey of Westford, Mass., Cheryl Thomas of Winter Park, Fla. and Wayne Dobbins of Chelmsford, Mass.; 11 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Gaugler of South Paris; a sister-in-law, Ruby K. Dobbins of Jonesport; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Velma Kelley, Ola Woodward, Juanita Allen and Blanche Beal; and a son-in-law, Allan Beal. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Lamb of God Church, Main Street, Jonesport, with Pastor George Woodward, officiating. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Lamb of God Church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marshall’s Health Care Facility Activities Fund, 9 Beals St., Machias, ME 04654.
