HAMPTON, N.H. – Ray S. Edwards, 72, of 141 Mill Rd. died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Raised in Stockton Springs, he was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Bucksport, the son of the late Shepard and Loraine (Jones) Edwards Sr. He had resided in Hampton since 1966, coming from Cambridge, N.Y. and Bangor. Mr. Edwards was an Army veteran of the Korean War and 1959 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, with a bachelor’s of science degree in animal husbandry. He was a sales representative for the animal health division for the Eli Lilly and Company (Elanco) and retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor and of Pownal Lodge AF & AM of Stockton Springs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at camp with his family and friends. Family members include his wife of 47 years, Janet (Noddin) Edwards of Hampton; a son, Bill and his wife, Amy, of Stratham, N.H.; five grandchildren, Caley, Brandon and Cody Lyons and Lauren and Jeffrey Edwards; a sister, Lillian Pinkham of Carthage, N.Y.; and an aunt, Eleanor Jones of Richmond; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jayne (Edwards) Lyons in 2005; and a brother, Shepard Edwards Jr., who died in 2000. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
