FORT KENT – Cecil Hafford Sr., 76, died Nov. 6, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. He was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Allagash, the son of Alfred and Essie (Hafford) Hafford Sr. Cecil was a Korean War veteran where he served two tours of duty. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post and the American Legion, both of Fort Kent. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and his favorite spot on Earth was Little Fall Brook Lake with his brother Herman, a can of worms and his old boat. He worked as a Park Ranger on the Allagash Waterway for several years but most of his life he worked as a logger. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends and especially by those who loved his stories, practical jokes and especially his smile and his laugh. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jonah (Dubey) Hafford; his three sons and their spouses, Cecil Jr. and his wife, Kathleen (Voisine), of Fort Kent, Carl and his wife, Bonnie (Morin), of Charlton, Mass. and Corey and his wife, Vicki (Bernier), of Wallagrass; one sister, Florence Davenport of Fort Fairfield; six grandchildren, Ethan, Brittany, Zachary, Ashley, Sean and Brady. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Ben O’Leary; five brothers, Sam, Alfred, Herman, Delbert and Glen; six sisters, Hazel Snow, Mabel Taylor, Elizabeth Hafford, Ellen Robbins, Minnie Walker and Winifred Walker. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, with the Rev. James Nadeau officiating. Cecil will be returning to his beloved Allagash to be buried beside his parents at the Allagash Municipal Cemetery at a later date.
