BUCKSPORT – Celia (Candage) Conners, 76, died peacefully Feb. 17, 2006, at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Archie L. and N. Ruth (Gray) Candage. Celia graduated in 1948 from George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill. She played basketball all four years in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making many crafts. Celia and Don loved going to the Bucksport Senior Citizen Center and always looked forward to camping over Labor Day weekend at the Blue Hill Fair, with their many friends. The family camp on William’s Pond, going fishing and family celebrations were all very important to her. She is survived by two sons, Kevin Conners and his wife, Cindy, of Eddington and his children Brett, Adam, Jesse and Craig, Charles Conners and his wife, Elizabeth, of East Corinth and his children, Tony, Trudy, Richard and Jennifer; three sisters, Geneva Pert of Deer Isle, Geraldine Carter and her husband, Linwood, of Blue Hill and Joyce Tyler and her husband, Harry, of Blue Hill; three sisters-in-law, Betty Bowden of Bucksport, Polly O’Donnell and her husband, Austin, of Bucksport and Helen Anderson of Bass Harbor; brother-in-law, James Anderson and his wife, Jane, of Surry; several nieces and nephews. Celia will also be remembered by special friends, Debbie and Milan Tate, John and Ola Wilson and Florence Conley. She was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Ruth Candage; husband, Donald A. Conners; and four brothers-in-law. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff that took care of Celia at Ross Manor. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick, officiating. Visitation will be noon until time of service. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 163 Lancaster St., Portland, ME 04101.
