BANGOR – Brian Wayne Slaven, 62, died Feb. 18, 2006, at the Maine Veteran’s Home, Bangor, with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Blue Hill, the son of Major Robert and Ruth (Saunders) Slaven. Brian lived in Japan and Germany as a child, with his family. He was a graduate of George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Brian was also an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. The love of his life were his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his mother of Blue Hill; one son, Brian Slaven Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Bangor; three daughters, Kelly Slaven of Orono Elizabeth Marsh and her husband, Eric and Catherine Hamel, all of Bangor; two brothers, Robert of Blue Hill and Michael of Bangor; grandchildren, Jeremy Slaven, Grace Hamel and Lyrica Marsh; his long-time companion, Patricia Holland of Brewer. He was predeceased by his father. A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor in the spring, at a date and time to be announced.
