MERRILL – Chad Michael Burpee, 28, beloved son and brother, went home to be with his Lord June 9, 2007, after bravely fighting a longtime illness. He was born June 30, 1978, in Houlton, to Rick Burpee and Leanna Hersey. Chad was a 1997 graduate of Southern Aroostook Community School. He always loved fishing, hunting, playing baseball, basketball and soccer with his brother, Adam, at S.A.C.H.S., where his dad was one of his coaches. He is survived by his big brother, who he cherished, Adam and his wife, Patty Burpee; one niece, Lauren Rae Burpee; and one nephew, Darin Flewelling; his mother, Leanna Hersey, all of Oakfield; his father, Rick Burpee and his wife, Alison; one stepsister, Jaime Lynn Beers, all of Hermon; maternal grandfather, Carroll Hersey and his wife, Viola, of Smyrna; paternal grandmother, Rita Burpee of Smyrna; many aunts, uncles and cousins, who all loved Chad very much. He also left behind many close friends from coast to coast, both young and old; and two very special schoolteachers, Bonnie Pratt and Penny White. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Perley Burpee. The family thanks Pastor Richard McLaughlin of Celebrate Recovery and all of the very dedicated workers. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastors Richard McLaughlin and Sterling Lawrence officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church fellowship hall after the interment at Merrill Cemetery.
