BRADLEY – Chanel J. Roy, 88, died peacefully early Christmas morning 2005, at his daughter’s residence in Eddington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Van Buren, the son of Desire and Marie (Cote) Roy. He served in the Conservation Corps and the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a carpenter and a builder of many projects for his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Sylvia would go to the coast and collect driftwood and he would transform the driftwood into beautiful village scenes or spinning wheels for each family member. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chanel loved his “wild” animals that lived under his home. They included a squirrel, a skunk, raccoon and a wild cat. He is survived by four daughters, Gloria Michaud and her fiance, Ronald Jenkins, of Eddington, Jacqueline Jones of Oak Park, Mich., Charlene Jacobs of Beaumont, Texas, Kathline Gramlich of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Gerald Roy and his wife, Diane and Daniel Roy and wife, Laurel, all of Bradley; 21 grandchildren and their families, Suzanne Theriault and her husband, John and their children, Jack and Dylan, Cynthia England and her husband, Steve and daughters, Leah, Paige and Brooke, Angel McQuate and her son, Blaze, Debra Glidden and her husband, Bob and their daughter, Raekel and her son, Tyler, Michele Turner and daughters, Chanelle, Alexa and Ciera, Jay Michaud and his wife, Rebecca, Stewart Jones and his wife, Lauren and sons, Christopher, Nicholas and Michael, David Jones, Jennifer Pope and her husband, Mitch and children, Brtiney, Brandon, Brett, Brianna, Nicole Conley and her husband, Roger and children, Logan, Shane, Ryan and Erica, Mark Roy, Terry Roy and daughters, Jacqueline and Tara, Christopher Roy and children, Ashley and Christopher, Michael Lufkin and his wife, Paula, Brent Lufkin, Tammy DeSalle and her husband, Marco and sons, Max and Sam, Stephanie Henry and husband, David and step-children, Talia, Cambri and Devin, Tina Perlich and children, Shailene and Ryan, Christina Wootten and her husband, Kevin and daughter, Grace, Seth Gramlich and his wife, Cindy and daughters, Destiny and Madison, Jillian Roy and son, Gage; a loving friend, Gladys Robinson; a brother, Medley Roy of Van Buren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia M. (Dumond) Roy; a daughter, Dian Roy; and two brothers, Leo James Roy and Elie Roy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated noon Wednesday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley, with the Rev. Paul Kerns, celebrant. Immediately following the service, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. Spring interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
