LUBEC – Gertrude Griffin Barker, 76, passed away Dec. 21, 2005, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, in Ellsworth. Gertrude was born July 18, 1929, in Cutler, the daughter of Loring and Helena Griffin. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Harry; sisters, Mildred Blanch, Marion Shane, Sonja Cota; two brothers, Lowell and Gardner Griffin. Gertrude is survived by her son, Dennis Barker of Trescott; daughters, Judy Stevens and son-in-law, Jeff Stevens, of Whiting and Cathy Barker of Lacey, Wash.; four grandchildren, Joshua and Madison Barker and Cale and Sam Stevens, all of Whiting. She is also survived by five sisters; Catherine Antaya of Millbury, Mass. and Cutler, Arlene Bryant of Cutler, Frances Lord of Lubec, Norma Hall of Lubec and Mavis Laskey of Lubec and California; several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at the West Lubec Methodist Church. Gertie will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all her family and friends.
