HANCOCK – Charles Alfred Carr, 82, died March 10, 2008, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Charlestown, Mass., the son of Alfred and Violet (Hurshmann) Carr. Charles was a veteran of World War II, Navy 6th fleet, in the North Atlantic. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved nature. He was a great carpenter. He loved his family and spending time with them. Charles was a member of the VFW No. 109 of Ellsworth and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Frances T. of Hancock; sons, Michael Carr of West Hampton, Mass., and John Carr and wife, Sharon, of Blackstone, Mass.; daughters, Charlene Cole and husband, Allen, of Blue Hill and Kathleen Klausky and husband, Robert, of Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Beth Carr of Marlborough, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, Joy, Shawn, Margaret and Matthew Carter, Ryan and Nicole Carr, Christopher, Timothy and Sara Carr and James Klausky; six great-grand-children; sister, Lillian Doherty of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower, celebrant. Interment will be held in the spring.
