LUBEC and STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. – Charles B. Lookabaugh, 82, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, surrounded by his family at his home in Lubec. He was born May 24, 1923, in Washington D.C. the son of Charles B. and Helen (Moon) Lookabaugh. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II as a second mate. He then went on to start a construction business in Stafford Springs, Conn. In 1973, he moved to Lubec where he continued working at various construction jobs. He served as town manager for Lubec for two years. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Auxiliary, and was founding member of the Down East Chapter of World War II merchant marine veterans. He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Baldracchi) Lookabaugh of Lubec; two sons, Mark Lookabaugh and his wife, Ligia and their son, Kurt, of Stafford Springs, Conn., and Erik Lookabaugh and his wife, Melissa Lee and their son, Ian and daughter, Mara, of Lubec; one brother, James Lookabaugh and his wife, and four children, of Manassas, Va.; one sister-in-law, Bernice Baldracchi and her sons of Stafford Springs, Conn. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Jane Kocher. At his request there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in May followed by a Remembrance Day Gathering.
