MILLINOCKET – Charles “Charlie” James Gallant, 85, passed away Aug. 2, 2004, at a Howland healthcare facility. He was born May 9, 1919, in Millinocket, the son of Jeremiah and Emma (Babin) Gallant. Charlie was in the Civilian Conservation Corp from 1937 to 1938 and in the Maine National Guard from 1938 to 1940. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and a life long member of St. Martin of Tours Council No. 680 Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Donald V. Henry, Post No. 80 American Legion for many years. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Aldea (Willette) Gallant of Millinocket; two daughters, Kitty Grover and her husband, Phil, of Maxfield, Dorothy Budge and her husband, Norman, of Millinocket; one son, William J. Gallant and his wife, Donna, of Millinocket; eight grandchildren, Laura Boobar, Billie Jo Boobar, Cathy Boobar, Tony Grover, Beth Levesque, Ken Boutaugh, Marc Gallant and Kylie Spratt; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris Gallant of Millinocket. He was predeceased by six sisters; three brothers; and a great-grandson, Tyler. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Knights of Columbus will do a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
