BELFAST – Charles “Chuck” S. Huntley, 84, passed away Nov. 1, 2007, surrounded by his family at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Chuck was born March 10, 1923, in Portland, the son of the late Mary Towle (Huntley) Richards and Archie Huntley. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Belfast most of his adult life. Chuck was a hard worker. He worked at Maplewood Poultry Co., as a maintenance foreman for more than 40 years, also several years at Penobscot Poultry and Penobscot Frozen Foods, until he finally retired in 1998. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for someone in need. Chuck loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and four-wheeling. He looked forward to summers at Greenland Cove Campground, Danforth, where he made many friends. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Frances; four daughters, Patricia Huntley of Eastbrook, Sandra Bagley and husband, Leigh, of Searsport, Joanne Nickerson and husband, Robert, of Augusta and Charlene Huntley of Westbrook, Conn.; stepdaughter, Linda Wren of Belfast; grandchildren, Anthony Bagley and wife, Katie, of Searsport, Angela Tower and husband, Greg, of Searsport and Johneene Nickerson of Gardiner; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brooke, Drew and Bayleigh Bagley, all of Searsport and Ryker Tower of Searsport; a stepgranddaughter, Abbey Wren of Belfast; nieces and nephews. Chuck was predeceased by his parents; a son, Richard “Dickey” Huntley; a sister, Theresa Parkinson; stepmother, Lillian Huntley; and a stepson, James “Pete” Sargent. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
