MATTAWAMKEAG and OLD TOWN – Charles Irving Boutot, 77, died peacefully June 24, 2006, surrounded by his family at his home in Old Town. He was born, as he always said, “at a very young age” June 13, 1929, at Danforth, the son of Charles E. and Theo (Robbins) Boutot. He was a graduate of Lee Academy, Class of 1946, and attended both Husson College and the University of Maine. He was a man of many talents, including a real gift for music and sports. His passion for sports, especially baseball, was expressed in later years in his work with the youth of Mattawamkeag. He retired from Great Northern Paper Co. in 1986. He lived in Mattawamkeag for nearly 52 years, where he raised his family of four with his wife, Katherine D. Boutot, who predeceased him in 2000. He was also predeceased by a son, Charles E. in 1991; and a brother, Frances K. in 1933. He moved to Old Town in 2001, and made his home with his fiance, Gwendolyn G. Plourde. He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Theo B. and Henry Hinckley of Southwest Harbor and their three children, Amanda Jacobs and her husband, Benjamin, of Seal Cove, Sarah and Nathaniel of Southwest Harbor; son, John and his fiance, Missy Nadeau, and her daughter, Malloree, all of Enfield; son, Michael and his wife, Susan (Bento) Boutot, of Hancock and their daughter, Jamie and Jamie’s daughters, Jade and Ryleigh of Ellsworth; a grandson, James McNeil and his wife, Tonia, and their four children of Guston, Ky.; his brother-in-law, Forest DeMeyer and his wife, Anita, of Eastbrook; one aunt, Evelyn Boutot Godsoe of Dover-Foxcroft; several cousins; and his fiance, Gwendolyn G. Plourde of Old Town. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Church in Winn. Burial will be private and held at Mattawamkeag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Mattawamkeag, Little League Program, P.O. Box 260, Mattawamkeag, ME 04459. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
