PEMBROKE and HERMON – Charles Neal Jones, 93, husband of the late, Elsie (Clark) Jones, passed away Nov. 9, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born July 30, 1912, in Dennysville, the son of Plummer A. and Ruth (Leighton) Jones. Charlie grew up in Dennysville and was a graduate of Dennysville High School. He was also a graduate of Washington State Normal School in Machias where he majored in education. Charles spent his working career with Lane Construction Company, retiring with 40 years of service. He was a 50-year member and past master of Crescent Masonic Lodge No. 78 AF & AM of Pembroke, member Royal Arch Masons, Crescent Lodge No. 26 of Pembroke, St. Croix Council No. 11, Royal and Select Masters of Calais, past patron of Pennamquan O.E.S. Chapter No. 146 of Pembroke. He is survived by two sons, Jerry Jones and his wife, Nancy, of North Carolina and Robert Jones and his wife, Jeannine, of Pennsylvania; one daughter, Jane Ritchie and her husband, Alan, of Hermon; one brother, Lawrence Jones of Massachusetts; two sisters, Phyllis Lewis and Roberta Picard, both of Springvale; six grandchildren, 13 great-grand-children; one aunt, Florence Leighton, of Waterville; and a special sister-in-law, Lillian Leighton of Granby, Conn. Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Elsie in 1998; and by two brothers, Cecil and Ward Jones; and three sisters, Abby, Mary and Pearl. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where an evening prayer service will be held 7 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hanson, pastor of the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Pembroke United Methodist Church, Pembroke, with the Rev. Bernard Hammond, pastor officiating, followed by a Masonic and Eastern Star memorial service. Interment will follow, beside his wife, Elsie, in Forest Hill Cemetery, Pembroke.
