FREEPORT – James B. Morrison Jr., 90, formerly of Freeport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday. He was born in Bradford, the son of James B. and Hazel Morrison. James Morrison was superintendent of schools in Freeport from 1957-1965 and worked as a consultant in the State Department of Education from 1965-1974. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Maine in Orono and his education degree from Boston University. Morrison served in teaching and administrative positions in Millinocket, Patten, Milo and Mechanic Falls before coming to Freeport. He was married to Charlotte Mower, who died in 1990. His eldest daughter, Nancy Morrill Bentley, died in 1991. Morrison is survived by his wife, Athalie; and three children, James S. Morrison, Barbara Baehr and Mary Suggs; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five stepchildren and their families. Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Freeport. Interment will be at Williams Cemetery, Bradford.
