DETROIT – Charles P. “Spike” Shaw, 70, passed away Oct. 3, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Togus. He was born May 2, 1933, in Troy, son of Charles and L. Melba Shaw Sr. Charles served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for Fay Scott in Dexter for 17 years. He was a member of the Pittsfield Masonic Lodge and of the Baptist Church in Hartland. He is survived by his fianc‚e, Beryl Gray, of Corinna; two sons and their wives, Charles and Tawni Shaw III and Herbert and Elsie Shaw, all of Detroit; two daughters and their husbands, Lillian and Steven Philbrick of Pittsfield, and Marcia and Michael Cox of Skowhegan; four sisters, Norma Davis of Guilford, Geraldine and her husband, Warren Nickse, of Newport, Lucille and her husband, Richard Moore, of Waterville, Donna and her husband, Gil Friend, of Newport; seven grandchildren, Charles Shaw IV, Crystal Ballard, Jessica Shaw, Danielle Shaw, Elizabeth Perkins, Olivia Perkins, Abigail Shaw; two step-grandchildren, Tasha Dunham and Timothy Clark; three great-grandchildren, Steven Cook, Tiah Shaw and Jordyn Shaw. He was predeceased by a brother, Lionel Shaw; and two sisters, Phyllis Austin and June Hall. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 8, with burial in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
