MATTAWAMKEAG – Charles R. York, Jr., 47, husband of Deborah (Fiske) York, died Nov. 12, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1956, in Portland, the son of Dorothy Eva (Holt) York and Charles Rupert York Sr. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting and driving cars and he dearly loved his wife, Debbie. In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by three sons, Charles III of Alabama, Christopher and Justin, both of Portland; four brothers, Mark, John, Matthew and Arthur; a sister, Rebecca Gilman; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Mattawamkeag Church of God, with the Rev. Mark W. York officiating. Interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
