HERMON – Charles T. Butera, 82, died Oct. 2, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born May 5, 1923, in Bangor, the son of Lorenzo and Carmela (Capostagno) Butera. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a lecturer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for many years, and served on the Brewer Planning Board. He was a wonderful husband, father, and a loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rose Butera of Hermon; his daughter and husband, Michele and Jody Perkins of Brewer; his son, Michael Butera of Brewer; three brothers and their wives, Raymond Butera and Nonie of Bangor, Benjamin Butera and Norma of Hampden, Lawrence Butera and Alvina of Brewer; two sisters and their husbands, Carmela and Bob Spencer of Canada, Vivian and Russell McKenna of Bangor; seven grandchildren, David, Matthew, Anthony, and Adam Vachon, Michael, Daniel, and Joshua Butera. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Butera. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall of the church following the interment.
