PALMYRA – Carl E. Palmer, 70, died Oct. 2, 2005, at his home in Palmyra following a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Unity, the son of Manley and Edith (Stuart) Palmer Sr. He attended Unity schools. Carl worked as a weaver at Cummings Industries and later for Northeast Shoe and SAS Company. After retirement he worked with his daughter and son-in-law at Dow Auto Sales. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Buker) Palmer of Palmyra; two sons, Carl Palmer Jr. and his wife, Velma, and Daniel Palmer, all of Palmyra; a daughter, Wanda Dow and her husband, Dennis, of Newport; two brothers and their wives, Vernard and Maryann Palmer of Newport and Lloyd and Marie Palmer of Ohio; three sisters and their husbands, Janice and Ronald Sheldon of Palmyra, Theo and Pat Violette of Waterville, and Marvis and Kenneth Huntington of Detroit; two sisters-in-law, Carol Palmer of Texas and Betty Palmer of Palmyra; five grandchildren, Barbara Gray of Penobscot, Kelly Anderson of Palmyra, Michelle Godsoe of St. Albans, Christina Palmer, and Andria Dow both of Palmyra; two great-grandchildren, Demika and Mikayla Anderson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Manley, Kenneth, Pete, and Ronald; and a sister, Evelyn Stafford. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home with the Rev. Al Worden officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Palmyra.
