HAMPDEN – Charlotte Pearl (Nelson) Foster, 85, beloved wife of the late George E. Foster, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, at her home. She was born May 19, 1921, in LaGrange, the daughter of Gustaf A. and Pearl Mae (Porter) Nelson. Charlotte was a graduate of Winterport High School and had lived most of her life in Hampden. Charlotte was a housewife and home maker all of her life. She was a past member of the Women’s Society for Christian Service at the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church. Charlotte loved spending summers at Swan Lake and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafts and cooking. Charlotte will be remembered as a kind and gentle lady with an infectious smile, but most of all as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Charlotte is survived by her children, Bion A. Foster and wife, Dorain, of Hampden, Randall “Randy” A. Foster and wife, Nancy, of Belmont and Brenda F. Kingsbury and husband, Galen, of Winterport; grandchildren, Andrea K.M. Foster, Pamela Foster Albert and husband, Keith, Adam Foster and wife, Debi, Todd Foster, Sara Kingsbury and Gabe Kingsbury; three step-grand-daughters, Darci Kingsbury, Joan Hopkins and husband, Brian and Holly Kopp and husband, Ian; great-grandchildren, Caleb Albert and Alex and Jacob Foster; and great-stepgrandchildren, Drew and Katie Hopkins and Blair and Emma Kopp; a stepbrother, Donald Smith of Winterport; and special lifelong friends, Reggie Clark, Janice Baker, Mattie Simpson and other close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1993; and by three sisters, Kathleen “Kay” Emms, Rosie Butera and Hazel Nelson. Family and friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, officiating. Interment later in the springtime will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
