STOCKTON SPRINGS – Cheri Seely Ottinger, 88, passed away March 11, 2007, with her daughter, Sandra, by her side, at home in an area familiar to her near the water and woods. She was born March 7, 1919, in Johnstown, Pa., to Howard and Flora (Wesson) Hurst. A spirited artist and sculptor, often times earning “Best of Show,” she was a member of the Artist Guild in Southern California. She moved to Stockton Springs with her daughter’s family in 2000. Cheri was creative, had a great sense of humor, was full of wit, and was not afraid to voice her opinions. She traveled the world extensively, going to all of the places that she wanted Europe, Hong Kong, the Hawaiian Islands, to name a few, but the highlight of her travels was when she visited the grave of her first husband, Capt. Reed Seely, in Hamm Cemetery, Luxemburg, Germany, where he was killed during the Battle of the Bulge in 1945. She was also predeceased by her second husband, the father of her children, William A. Ottinger, in 1985. Cheri is survived by three children, Sandra Kalinisan and her husband, Ernest, of Stockton Springs, Donna Boss of Startup, Wash., and Noel Ottinger of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren, Lisa and Mike Stanley, Dawn Reynolds, Ashley Kalinisan, Allen Black and Heather Black; great-grandchildren, Arlene, Nolan, Maison and Alyssa. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
