FORT FAIRFIELD – Chester A. “Buster” Graves Jr., 75, husband of Mrs. Kathryn (McBreairty) Graves, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 19, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born June 8, 1932, in Boston, the son of Chester A. Sr. and Elizabeth (Gamblin) Graves. He attended Fort Fairfield schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Kathryn McBreairty, April 8, 1992, and had been self-employed as a carpenter for many years. Mr. Graves was proud to be a Korean War veteran and was a member of VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield and Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his parents, Mr. Graves was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence E. “Piggy” Graves. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mrs. Kathryn Graves of Fort Fair-field; three sons, Gregory Graves of Brewer, Peter Graves of Skowhegan and Chester A. Graves III and his wife, Susan, of Tampa, Fla.; one stepson, Toby Boyce and his wife, Kelly, of Winchester, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth Jane Smith and her husband, the Rev. Charles Smith of Germantown, Md., Brenda Gagnon of Portland, Gloria Boyd of Massachusetts; two stepdaughters, Nicole Lovering and her husband, Michael, of Bitburg, Germany, and Mandy Boyce of Mars Hill; 14 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Due to a family medical emergency, the funeral service with military honors will be private, held at the McCain room at The Aroostook Medical Center A.R. Gould Hospital, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Graves to Korean War Veterans Association, 163 Deerbrook Trail, Pineville, LA 71360.
