MILLINOCKET – Clinton G. Haines, 78, died May 20, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born July 21, 1929, in Millinocket, the son of Clinton and Mary Ann (Cusack) Haines. He was born and lived in Millinocket all of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning to Millinocket, he worked for Great Northern Paper Co., until his retirement in 1986. Clint was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish, and was an active member of Fin and Feathers Club. Clint was a loving father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend to all who knew him. Some of his special times were spent with his grandchildren, sons, family and friends. Clint always enjoyed his time spent at McDonald’s pondering over life’s issues with his brother and their friends from the coffee clutch bunch. Nesowadnehunk Lake held a special place in his heart, along with the retirees who resided there and fished with him on numerous occasions. He is survived by his three children, Peter Haines and friend, Diane Frost, of Mattawamkeag, Paul and Carol Haines of Millinocket and David and Marianne Haines of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and their four children, Ashley, Amanda, Anna and Ben, whom he loved dearly; siblings, Florence Chudio, Louise Hawkins and Anne Soucier; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Earl Dow; a sister, Carol DeCoursey; a brother, Vernon Haines; and a very special aunt, Annie Cusack. By Clint’s request, friends and relatives may pay their respects at a graveside service 1 p.m. May 27 at Millinocket Cemetery with Pastor Dave Chicoine officiating. There will be a lunch provided after the service at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket.
