HAMPDEN – Chester Goding Junkins, 82, beloved husband of Priscilla (Murch) Junkins, passed away peacefully Dec. 14, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 16, 1924, in Lincoln, the son of Aubrey and Tessie (Goding) Junkins. Chester grew up in Bangor, attended Bangor schools and was a graduate of NYA Technical School, Eastport, studying electrical technology. He worked at Dow Field, doing electrical maintenance on B-17’s during World War II. He later worked for Webber Ford and Webber Oil Co. Chester retired from Bangor Hydro after 39 years of service, as superintendent of the electrical department. Chet loved life and people, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Mystic Masonic Lodge No. 65 AF and AM, Hampden; Scottish Rite Bodies Valley, Bangor; Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor; the Shrine Sun Shine Club; Star in the East Chapter No. 17 OES, Hampden; and the Hampden Congregational Church. He was a former Boy Scout leader and loved going to camp at Cold Stream, traveling and wintering in Florida for 16 years. Chet is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Priscilla of Hampden; a son, Ronald and his wife, Sharon, of Hudson; a daughter, Judith Ann Bayly of Amherst, N.H.; a sister, Betty Jean Junkins of Winterport; a brother and sister-in-law, Carlton and Louise Jun-kins of Winterport; a grandson, Eric of Orono; granddaughter, Amy of Bangor; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Tyler Junkins, both of Hampden, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of life and family and pride in his Scottish heritage. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Hampden Congregational Church, Main Road North, Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Deborah M. Jenks, pastor, officiating. Interment in the springtime will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
