HARMONY – Christene R. Kerr 70, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 27, 1934, in Harpersville, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence and Irene (Dewitt) Kerr. She was educated in the schools of New York. She married Mervin “Herbie” Kerr on April 4, 1952. They have been side by side ever since, working together as managers at the Harmony General Store in the early 70’s, then as truckers, traveling the Nation’s highways for ten years in their own rig. Later on she worked for the Harmony School Library and Lunch programs, and as the Town Clerk of Harmony. Christine is a former member of the Harmony Baptist Church. She truly enjoyed her jobs and the people she met through them, especially the children. Survivors include her husband of 54 years Herbie; her dog, Mary; two sons, David Kerr and his wife, Louanne, of Pittsfield, and Andy Kerr of Harmony; five grandchildren, Alycia, Aaron, Aric, Joshua, and Andrea; a great-grandson Jethro Jacob Kerr; two sisters; three brothers; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Charles and her daughter, Kathy. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Jackson officiating. Interment will be Saturday at the North Road Cemetery in Harmony. Donations may be made in her memory to the Harmony School Department Library Fund P.O. Box 100, Harmony, ME 04942.
