BANGOR – Christina K. Fournier, 89, passed away peacefully June 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 14, 1914, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Patrick F. and MaryAnn (Boatreau) Keenan. Christina was a graduate of John Baptist High School and Eastern State Normal School, in Castine, and attended the University of Maine, Orono. She taught school at Webster Plantation, Hudson, and for 20 years at Fruit Street Elementary in Bangor. Christina was a member of the altar guild of St. John’s Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Women’s Council, and also the Daughters of Isabella Ave Maria, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Women Educators Sorority, N.E.A., M.T.A., Current Events and Retired Teachers – State and Local, and a volunteer and Auxiliary Member of the Eastern Maine Medical Center. Christina was a strong, independent and amazing lady and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Her family offers a special thank-you to St. Joseph’s Hospital for their exceptional care, love, and compassion. She is survived by her five children, Arthur J. Fournier, and wife, Lana, of Granite Shoals, Texas, Sandra A. Reynolds of Portland, Christine Smith and husband, Robin, of Bangor, Richard Fournier of Carmel, Mary Ellen Dupuis and husband, Michael, of Newburgh, Md.; a sister, Joan Hansen of Eau Claire, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Mashay, Lanay, Charise, Chandra, and Larelle Fournier of Texas, Robert and Scott Phillips of Pennsylvania, Jennifer Phillips of California, Matthew and William Smith of Florida and Richard Fournier of Bangor; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was married to the late Arthur J. Fournier who died in 1980. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 p.m., Thursday, June 17, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, June 18, at St. John’s Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, celebrant, and the Rev. Richard E. Harvey, con-celebrant. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the St. John’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, 207 York St., Bangor, following the service.
