HUDSON – Cindy G. Cookson, 46, passed away peacefully Oct. 2, 2006, surrounded by her family after a short battle with lung cancer, at her home in Hudson. She was born May 6, 1960, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Michael W. Jr. and Joanne C. (Hichborn) Cookson. Cindy was very proud of serving her country in the U.S. Army for 20 years, receiving many commendations such as the Legion of Merit Award. She worked at Community Health and Counseling Services for the past seven years in Bangor, working with homeless programs and was dearly loved by everyone she worked with. In addition to her parents of Dover-Foxcroft, she is survived by two brothers, Michael Cookson of Dover-Foxcroft and Earl Cookson of West Allis, Wis.; three sisters, Joanne M. Cookson of Skowhegan, Laurie A. Bennett of Mobile, Ala., and Darlene M. O’Connor of Lunenburg, Mass.; nieces, Angela M. Cookson, Ashlyn M. O’Connor; nephews, Zachary A. Bennett and Parker W. Douglas. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. J. Bradbury Mitchell, interim pastor of the Unitarian Universalist Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the services. Cindy requests that gifts in her memory may be made to assist Community Health and Counseling Services clients’ transitioning out of homelessness to Community Health and Counseling Services, P.O.
