AUBURN – Charles N. Jack, 56, of Littleton, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, after a battle with cancer that lasted more than a year. He was born Dec. 11, 1949, in New Bedford, Mass., to Richard Jack Jr. and Edith Atkinson. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School in 1967 and Cape Cod Community College in 1969. While serving his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he married Jane Fournier; they recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. A kit-chen designer at Chick Home Center, North Conway, N.H., he had previously worked at Foggs Home Center, Houlton, where he was affectionately known as “CJ.” Throughout his life, he was active in the First Presbyterian and Holy Name Church, New Bedford, Mass., as well as the Littleton Baptist Church in Littleton. Charles was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Houlton VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, making wooden toys and was a therapeutic foster parent, who sought involvement in his children’s school and the local hospital. A husband, a father, and a friend, Charles will be remembered for his witty banter, a love of Monty Python, and a sense of humor that would not elude him; even as he faced his final days. The minister of Silly Walks would be proud. He is survived by his wife, Jane of Littleton; three daughters, Alicia Jack and her husband, C. Douglas McIntire, of Auburn, Bethany Jack of Portland and Diana Jack of Littleton; a son, Aaron Jack of Littleton; and three grandchildren, Caitlin, Shawn and Keagan McIntire. A celebration of his life will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Holy Name Church, Mount Pleasant Street, New Bedford, Mass. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Littleton.
