BREWER, WARREN and CORRY, Pa., and APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – Clair A. Wood, 82, died Jan. 27, 2005, in Arizona of a heart attach following knee surgery. He was born July 21, 1922, in Warren, Pa., the eldest son of Paul and Pearle Mae Brown Wood. Clair was a graduate of Thiel College, earning a degree in Engineering, and was also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the army in the Pacific theater, where he received a purple heart. He was a 32nd degree Mason and past master of the General Joseph Warren Lodge. Other memberships included the Elks, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion, the Shriners, and the Ham Radio Club. He and his wife, Virginia, belonged to the Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Club and traveled extensively with this group. He was employed by GTE Sylvania in Warren, Pa. and Bangor until he retired in 1986. He has several patents pertaining to his work as a metallurgist with GTE Sylvania. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Huckabone Wood; one son Scott and his wife, Laureen, of Corry, Pa.; two daughters, Ren? McCoy and her husband, Joseph, of Erie, Pa. and Rebecca Hall and her ex-husband, Richard, of Bangor; three brothers, Ivan Wood and his wife, Eleanor, Ted Wood and his wife, Midge, and C. Thomas Wood and his wife, Sally; one sister Patricia Peterson and her husband Marshall. He was predeceased by one sister, Coral Jane Ustach and one brother, George Stanford Wood. He will be fondly remembered by his six gradchildren, Scott Larson of Bangor, Kristianna Hall of Brewer, Dannielle Nola and her husband, Doug, Donna McCoy, Scott Wood Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, and David Wood and his wife, Jacqueline, all of Pennsylvania. He was very proud of his six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alexander, Olivia, Cody, Marlee and Philip, all of Penn. He is already greatly missed by his dachshund, Rusty, who watches his car hoping he will appear. Memorial services will be scheduled in the spring in Pennsylvania.
