ORRINGTON – Claire L. Midwood Corrigan, 59, beloved and cherished mother, sister, daughter and friend, died June 21, 2005. Claire was born April 3, 1946, in Providence, R.I. She is survived by daughter, Alanna Corrigan; stepchildren, Kristi Peterson and Patrick Corrigan; sisters, Judith Midwood and Ann Mattern; and mother, Rita Midwood. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Warren Midwood. She grew up in Swansea, Mass., and Riverside, R.I. In 1973, Claire graduated from CCRI with a degree in nursing. She worked in various Rhode Island hospitals until 1976 when she moved to Maine. She continued working as a dedicated nurse in a multitude of settings, until she retired in 2002 and became diligent caretaker of Harold B. White. Claire’s lifelong hobby of gardening was furthered when she recently received her Mater Gardeners Certificate. Claire was a talented crafter and an excellent seamstress. She was a notorious reviver and rescuer of animal kind. Her unique humor and unforgettable personality will forever live on in friends and family. Claire’s loving devotion as a wonderful, nurturing mother will be cherished by her daughter. The funeral will take place 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, in Riverside, R.I. and she will be laid to rest in the family plot in Swansea, Mass.
