VAN BUREN and OLD TOWN – Claire M. (Ouellette) Stedt, 74, died Feb. 28, 2004, at her son’s residence in Van Buren. She was born Oct. 4, 1929, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, the daughter of Theophile and Ida (Fournier) Nadeau. She had resided in Old Town for the past 24 years prior to returning to Van Buren last August. Claire was employed as a cook for many years at the Van Buren Tastee Freeze and also worked for a number of years as a clerk at Ames department store in Old Town. She is survived by two sons, Rodney Ouellette and his wife, Diane, of Van Buren, Mark Ouellette and his wife, Candice, of Old Town; one daughter, Linda Clegg and her husband, Colin, of Moosup, Conn.; one brother, Clarence Nadeau of North Caribou; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
