ENFIELD – Clara F. Cummings, 85, wife of the late Paul Cummings, passed away Dec. 25, 2007, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Howland, the daughter of Maurice and Glenys Fern (Myrick) Thompson. Clara was a longtime member of West Enfield Baptist Church. She and her late husband worked for many years at Baxter State Park. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking and loved children. She practically raised many of the children of her family members. She is survived by four grandchildren, Beth Archer and Waldo of Enfield, Brian Porter and Brooke of Corinth, Shannon Marriner and Darrin of Belfast, and Joseph Porter of Seattle; nine great-grandchildren, Dillan, Hollie, Lora, Reilly, Kali, Caleb, Grace, Sydney and Izik; two brothers, Alton Thompson of Alaska and Donald Thompson of Molunkus; two sisters, Lorraine Graves of Jefferson and Janice Caverly of Corinth; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra; a great-granddaughter, Chelly; a brother, Galen; two sisters, Julia and Ruth; a great-nephew, Blair Emery; and her beloved cat, Toby. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Hyland officiating. Spring interment will be at Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Blair Emery Fund at Lee Academy. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
