BUCKSPORT – Delphine Theresa (Cyr) McCann, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Dec. 26, 2007, after spending a wonderful Christmas with her family. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Skowhegan, to Emile and Marie (Sirois) Cyr. She was a graduate of Bucksport High School, Class of 1949. She followed high school with one year of postsecondary business school in Portland and was employed as a secretary at Atwood Motor Co., Bangor; Central Maine Power Co., Bucksport; Webber Tanks, Bucksport; and by Dr. Shaffer and Dr. Sawyer in Bucksport. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Amie and Hector Cyr; and her sister, Lucille Murphy. She leaves her devoted husband of 57 years, Paul; her loyal and adoring children, Deborah Valenoti and her husband, Robert, Donna Bissonnette and her husband, Arthur, Elizabeth McCann and Douglas Tweedie. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Paul Bissonnette and his wife, Kelly, Alicia Handy and Josh Trundy, Katie Harmon and her husband, James, Abbee Howes and her husband, Jason, Jason Tweedie and his wife, Heather, and Marcus Tweedie and his wife, Melissa. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Marie and William Bissonnette, Alexis and Tanner Handy, Bryce Harmon, Kamryn and Sadie Howes, Laycee Tweedie, Aiden Tweedie and two more great-grandchildren expected in July 2008. She also leaves behind her special feline companion Buttons, who brightened her days and kept her warm at night. She is survived by four sisters and one brother, Lorenda Beaulieu, Catherine Sherman, Alma Bradley, Deanne Sheehan and her husband, Charles, and Paul Cyr and his wife, Lois. Additionally, she is survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Ann McCann, and Elizabeth Duncan; many special nieces and nephews. Important to her were lifelong friends, Charlotte Betts, Polly Lodge, Gloria Dauphinee, the late Joyce White and special neighbors and friends, Welman and Natalie McFarland, and Jerry and Janice Leach. Cuffy considered her family and friends to be her greatest blessing. She enjoyed moments spent caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her friends in “club” and special lunches with her girlfriends in Bangor. The family wishes to thank Hospice and Home Health Care of Hancock County. Visiting hours for Cuffy will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Elm Street Congregational Church with Pastor Linda Smith officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held after in Brown Hall. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations in Cuffy’s name be made to Bucksport Firefighters Association P.O. Box 1848, Bucksport, ME 04416.
